So I live in a basement apartment and pass down the stairs next to an open air furnace that probably has asbestos in it. It's really only the laundry room/ hallway but there's quite a bit of traffic up and down those stairs and around that area. Am I safe? Am I allowed to sweep and the dusty, basementy corners, lest I disturb asbestos dust? How cautionable should I be- please be detailed if you can.
